48" X 36" | Acrylic and Oil on Canvas | 2023 | 27330
Amihan is a goddess of wind. She is commonly depicted as a stunning woman with long hair and wings. According to legend, Amihan was born from a bird’s egg and was raised by fishermen who found her on the shore. As she grew up, she became a powerful deity who could control the winds and seas. It is believed that Amihan safeguards fishermen and sailors and brings prosperity and good luck to those who honor her. Her name has become synonymous with the cold winds that blow during the winter season in the Philippines, and many still offer prayers and offerings in hopes of receiving her blessings.
