Agi Pagkatipunan, affectionately known as the “Wood Wizard,” is a Filipino artist celebrated for his exceptional wood sculptures and functional art pieces. Born and raised in Maly, a small barangay in San Mateo, Rizal, Agi initially pursued a Bachelor of Science in Architecture at the Central Colleges of the Philippines. His passion for woodworking led him to transition from architecture to furniture making and sculpture, breathing new life into salvaged and recycled Philippine hardwoods.

Agi’s artistry is characterized by his ability to transform discarded wood into finely crafted furniture and sculptures. He often utilizes old, weathered wood, uncovering its hidden forms and imbuing each piece with a unique narrative. His works have been featured in various exhibitions and publications, highlighting his innovative approach to woodcraft.

In August 2022, Agi showcased his creativity in an exhibit titled “Gatong” at Art Lounge Manila in Muntinlupa. The exhibition emphasized the transformation of wood scraps into functional art, reflecting his commitment to sustainability and artistic expression.

Agi’s dedication to his craft and his ability to find beauty in the overlooked aspects of nature have solidified his reputation as a master wood sculptor in the Philippines.
