Ivan Acuña

Ivan Acuña is a renowned Filipino contemporary abstract artist celebrated for his dynamic, textured works that blend bold color palettes with expressive techniques. Born in Manila on August 23, 1968, he pursued Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines and further honed his craft through art workshops in Brisbane, Australia

His early exposure to the arts was shaped by his friendship with Alex Baldovino, nephew of National Artist Jose Joya. Weekend visits to Joya’s studio left a lasting impression, inspiring Acuña’s affinity for abstract expressionism. He draws inspiration from artists like Willem de Kooning and Joan Miró, and his works often feature impasto techniques and rich textures.
