Carlos "Cee" Cadid

Carlos “Cee” Cadid (born 1954) is a distinguished Filipino visual artist celebrated for his mastery of realism and portraiture. Originally from Hagonoy, Bulacan, his professional career began in 1976 when he joined the renowned Saturday Group, which was led at the time by National Artist H.R. Ocampo.

Cadid was mentored by the esteemed artist Sofronio Y. Mendoza (SYM), whose guidance was instrumental in refining his technical skills and focus on realistic depictions.

He currently serves as the President of Grupo Kwadro, a collective founded in 2015 that fosters collaboration among visual artists through regular sketching sessions and exhibitions.

Cadid is known for his ability to capture the “essence of everyday life” through vibrant detail. While he is highly sought after for portraiture, his body of work also includes:

  • Realistic Portraits: Renowned for capturing the likeness of high-profile figures.

  • Still Life and Cultural Scenes: His works often feature traditional Filipino subjects, such as local fruits (Dalandan, Suha), market scenes (Talipapa), and domestic life (Pang Tinola).

  • Mediums: He frequently works with gouache, pastel, and oil on canvas.
