Al Bandalan
Al Bandalan (born Antonio Lora Bandalan on January 17, 1955) is a Filipino visual artist originally from Baybay, Leyte. He is best known for his vibrant, floral-themed oil and acrylic paintings that explore the intersection of visual art and sensory experience.
He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from FEATI University.
His work is often categorized as Impressionism, characterized by a “riot of colors” and the skillful use of chiaroscuro (the treatment of light and shade). His compositions frequently focus on botanical subjects, such as orchids and gardens, intended to evoke the “suggestive fragrance” and memories of scent through visual textures.
He was recognized as a finalist in the Nayong Filipino Annual Competition (1976).
